Danish garage door company’s new ad campaign has some people shaking their heads

Ever since the first car was reported uncontrollably careening down the road, Toyota has had their share of PR nightmares. They have also been the butt of many jokes. However, a new dig at the auto industry giant seems to be getting more frowns than laughs.

Recently a Danish garage door company put out an ad depicting a garage door with a car-sized hole crashed through it. The headline read ‘20% off all garage doors’. Not too remarkable until one notices in small print at the top ‘ *for Toyota owners only’. Oops. See more about this Danish advertising gaffe here below.

Just in time for hurricane season

Hurricane season typically begins in June and can last all the way through November. Even if you don’t live on the beach, these hurricanes can mean bad weather is on it’s way. Along with gloomy skies and hard, driving rains there is usually a strong, powerful wind which can do lots of damage to your home. Garage doors are the largest entry point into your home, and that makes them a prime target for gusts of wind and pummeling rain.

The following article tells you what you should know about protecting your garage door from wind damage, and therefore protecting your home.

Can YOU sing your garage door open? Mariah Carey can.

I stumbled across an article dated back to 2005 that made me smile. It’s always fun to see something interesting going on in the world of garage doors, so this article, though short, is one of those.

Apparently, a little girl was quite a fan of Mariah Carey and listened to one of her albums over and over. It wouldn’t have been any big deal except for when Mariah hit her legendary high notes, the garage door would open. So again, I ask you. Can YOU sing your garage door open?

Check out the article below.

Check out this blog about a solar panel garage door!!

Since it is almost April and April is ‘Earth Month’, here is a great blog about solar panel garage doors.

What a neat idea this is!

http://pdsnj.com/blog/the-first-solar-panel-garage-door/

Some things I wonder about:

1. How much would something like that cost the average homeowner?

2. How much would that kind of garage door weigh?

3. Would it use normal garage door springs and parts, or would it’s uniqueness call for something special?

4. What kind of modification would it require to run a garage door opener off a garage door made of solar panels?

5. How much power could it produce?

H’mmm…something to think about.

Companies utilizing twitter

As the economic troubles drag on, companies are having to work harder than ever just to survive. Corporations are having to come up with creative ways to market their products and services. Many companies are utilizing more unconventional methods such as twitter, to get the word out about who they are and what they do.

Twitter is a micro-blogging website where posts (referred to as ‘tweets’) are 140 characters or less . Twitter is a great networking tool whose users share in-the-moment insights into what is going on around them. For busy people, Twitter allows these short posts to be published via text message from their cellphones or other mobile devices, and since posts are 140 characters or less, blogging is not time -consuming. A simple sentence, phrase, or link is all it takes to tweet.

Since Covenant Garage Doors & Openers is doing most of its’ advertising and marketing in-house, Twitter provides a quick, easy way to connect with potential clients while providing information. We can share a link to an interesting article about garage doors and garage door technology, we can alert followers to new blog posts we’ve done, we can post comments, ask questions and let people know the day’s available time slots for service appointments. The fact that twitter caters to in-the-present information, posts are fresher, immediate and more alive. As far as I can tell, Covenant Garage Doors & Openers is the only garage door service, installation and repair company currently utilizing twitter, so follow us at http://twitter.com/covenantdoors. Below are some interesting articles I have found written about this current trend of companies on twitter. Check them out.

A court ruling on garage door openers a no-brainer

Found on cnet.com .Okay, so this lawsuit was not so recent, but still entertaining! Check this out:

So it turns out that universal garage door remotes are legal after all.

Twitter saved the day!!

A garage door distress call story has a happy ending thanks to twitter.
Check out this amusing blog. It is a perfect example of how a person can discover a service and repair company via the internet.  Visit our website at www.covenantdoors.net to find a link to Covenant Garage Doors & Openers, LLC company twitter.
